বাক্যগঠন
বাক্য গঠনের ব্যাকরণগত কাঠামোটিই হল সিনট্যাক্স। শব্দ এবং বাক্যাংশ যে বিন্যাসে একটি বাক্য তৈরি করে তাকে সিনট্যাক্স বলে।
সিনট্যাক্স মূলত কোন Sentence এর মধ্যে কোন শব্দটি অন্য শব্দের আগে বা পরে আসে তার সম্পর্কে; অন্য কথায়, এটি ব্যাকরণের বৃহত্তর বিষয়ের অংশ।
একটি সম্পূর্ণ ভাবপ্রকাশক পদসমষ্টিকে Sentence বা বাক্য বলে। The sun rises in the east. He is a good boy. বাক্যের মধ্যে একটি নির্দিষ্ট নিয়মে এই পদসমূহ বিন্যস্ত হয়ে থাকে। এই বিন্যাসের নিয়মকেই Syntax বলে।
একটি বাক্যে বা Sentence-এ অন্ততঃ একটি Nominative (কর্তা) এবং একটি Finite Verb(সমাপিকা ক্রিয়া) থাকবেই থাকবে।
যথা :— He ran. এখানে He, Nominative এবং ran, Finite verb.
Rule 1. সাধারণতঃ Sentence-এ Nominative-টি প্রথমে বসে। তারপরে তার verb বসে। Verb-টি যদি Transitive(সকর্মক) হয় তাহলে ঐ verb - এর পরে তার Object(কর্ম) বসে।
যেমন :— He slept. He loves me.
কিন্তু কিছু কিছু ক্ষেত্রে verb-এর পরে Nominative বসে। যেমন—
(i) Sentence(বাক্য)-টি যখন Interrogative অর্থাৎ প্রশ্নবোধক হয়, তখন verb (ক্রিয়া) আগে বসে এবং nominative (কর্তা) পরে বসে।
যথা— Will you do this ?
কিন্তু Nominative-টি যদি Interrogative Pronoun (প্রশ্ন সূচক সর্বনাম) হয় তাহলে verb-এর পূর্বেই Nominative বসে।
যেমন— Who is there?
(ii) Sentence-টির অন্তর্গত verb-এর Imperative Mood বা অনুজ্ঞাসূচক ক্রিয়াভাব হলে Nominative-এর পূর্বে verb বসে।
যেমন— Go and tell him this.
(iii) Verb-টির যদি Subjunctive Mood বা সংযোজক ক্রিয়াভাব হয়, কিন্তু Sentence-এর গোড়ায় ‘if’ না থাকে তাহলে verb এর পরে Nominative বসবে।
যেমন :- Had I been there.
(iv) যখন Sentence টি There, Here প্রভৃতি দিয়ে শুরু হয় তখনও verb - এর পরে Nominative বসে।
যেমন :- There is a man at the gate.
(v) যখন ‘Neither’ বা ‘Nor’-এর অর্থ এবং ‘না’ (and not) হয় ও তাহা verb এর আগে থাকে তখনও verb এর পরে Nominative বসে।
যেমন- Nor was I satisfied.
(vi) Emphasis (জোর) বুঝাতে হলেও Verb-এর পরে Nominative বসে।
যেমন— So furious was the man .
Rule 2. Nominative-এর যে Number ও যে Person, তার verb -এরও সেই Number এবং সেই Person হবে।
যেমন- He reads. We read.
Rule 3. দুই বা ততোধিক Singular Nominative যদি And দ্বারা সংযুক্ত হয় এবং তাদের প্রত্যেকটির দ্বারা ভিন্ন ভিন্ন ব্যক্তি বা বস্তু বুঝায়, সেই জন্য তাহাদের Verb ও Pronoun-এর Plural number হবে। যেমন- Ram and Hari are good boys, for they obey their parents.
‘The Magistrate and the Collector are here' বললে বুঝতে হবে যে, দুইজন ব্যক্তি, একজন ম্যাজিষ্ট্রেট ও আর একজন কলেক্টর, এখানে আছেন।
কিন্তু ‘The Magistrate and Collector is here' বললে বুঝতে হবে যে, Magistrate ও Collector একই ব্যক্তি। অর্থাৎ যিনি Magistrate তিনিই Collector.
Rule 4. যদি কোন বাক্যে দুই বা ততোধিক Singular Nominative ‘Or’ কিংবা ‘Nor’ দ্বারা যুক্ত হয়, তা হলে সেই বাক্যে তাদের Verb-টি singular হবে।
যেমন- Ram or Har is wrong.
Note- Nominative গুলির ভিন্ন ভিন্ন Person হইলে Verb-এর ঠিক আগে যে Nominative থাকে, তারই Person অনুসারে Verb-এর Person হবে।
যেমন- You or I am active.
Rule 5. যদি Nominative-গুলির ভিন্ন ভিন্ন Number হয়, তাহা হইলে Verb- এর Plural number হবে, এবং Plural Nominative টি Verb - এর ঠিক আগে বসবে।
যেমন— Neither property nor riches were injurious to him.
Rule 6. Noun-এর যে Number, Gender ও Person হবে, সেই Noun- এর পরিবর্তে যে Pronoun বসবে, তারও সেই Number, Gender is Person হবে।
যথা— Ram has lost his books. Every tree is known by its fruit. .
Rule 7. ‘To be' Verb-এর পূর্বেও যে Case (কারক) থাকবে, পরেও সেই Case থাকবে।
যথা— I am he; I took Hari to be him.
Rule 8. Transitive Verb-এর পর Objective Case (কর্ম কারক) থাকবে।
যথা— I love him. He loves me. He wishes to learn.
Note— কিন্তু নিম্নলিখিত স্থানে Objective, Transitive verb এর আগে বসে :—
(i) যখন Objective টি Relative বা আপেক্ষিক সর্বনাম কিংবা Interrogative Pronoun বা প্রশ্ন সূচক সর্বনাম হয়।
যেমন— This is the book which I lost. Whom do you seek?
(ii) Emphasis (জোর) বুঝাতে হলেও Objective, Verb-এর আগে বসে। যেমন— Money you shall have.
Rule 9. দুই বা ততোধিক Noun কিংবা Pronoun Conjunction দ্বারা সংযুক্ত বা বিযুক্ত হলে তাহাদের Case একই হবে।
যথা— He and I are happy. He or I am to blame.
Rule 10. দুই বা ততোধিক Verb, Conjunction দ্বারা সংযুক্ত বা বিযুক্ত হলে তাহাদের Mood ও Tense একই হবে।
যথা— He reads and writes well. Strike but hear me.
Rule 11. কতকগুলি Adverb ও Conjunction ব্যবহার করিলে তাহাদের পরে বিশেষ বিশেষ Adverb বা Conjunction ব্যবহার করতে হয়।
যেমন :—
Either...or :— Either you or I must go there.
Neither...nor :— Neither he nor I am in fault.
Though...yet :— Though he is poor, yet he is honest.
Whether...or :—Whether he will accept this or not, I cannot tell.
As...as :— He is as good as you.
As...so :— As is the tree, so is the fruit.
So...as :— He is not so wise as his brother.
So... that :— I am so weak that I cannot walk.
Both...and :— He is both wise and honest.
Not only...but also :— He is not only rich but also honest.
No sooner...than :— No sooner did he come, than all the boys fled.
Scarcely before :— He had scarcely gone there when he was greeted by all.
Hardly when :— He had hardly gone there before he was greeted by all.
Rule 12. কতকগুলি word ও phrase-এর পর বিশেষ বিশেষ Preposition বসে|
যেমন— He is accused of theft. I am angry with you.

বাক্যগঠন
বাক্য গঠনের ব্যাকরণগত কাঠামোটিই হল সিনট্যাক্স। শব্দ এবং বাক্যাংশ যে বিন্যাসে একটি বাক্য তৈরি করে তাকে সিনট্যাক্স বলে।
সিনট্যাক্স মূলত কোন Sentence এর মধ্যে কোন শব্দটি অন্য শব্দের আগে বা পরে আসে তার সম্পর্কে; অন্য কথায়, এটি ব্যাকরণের বৃহত্তর বিষয়ের অংশ।
একটি সম্পূর্ণ ভাবপ্রকাশক পদসমষ্টিকে Sentence বা বাক্য বলে। The sun rises in the east. He is a good boy. বাক্যের মধ্যে একটি নির্দিষ্ট নিয়মে এই পদসমূহ বিন্যস্ত হয়ে থাকে। এই বিন্যাসের নিয়মকেই Syntax বলে।
একটি বাক্যে বা Sentence-এ অন্ততঃ একটি Nominative (কর্তা) এবং একটি Finite Verb(সমাপিকা ক্রিয়া) থাকবেই থাকবে।
যথা :— He ran. এখানে He, Nominative এবং ran, Finite verb.
Rule 1. সাধারণতঃ Sentence-এ Nominative-টি প্রথমে বসে। তারপরে তার verb বসে। Verb-টি যদি Transitive(সকর্মক) হয় তাহলে ঐ verb - এর পরে তার Object(কর্ম) বসে।

‘The Magistrate and the Collector are here' বললে বুঝতে হবে যে, দুইজন ব্যক্তি, একজন ম্যাজিষ্ট্রেট ও আর একজন কলেক্টর, এখানে আছেন।
কিন্তু ‘The Magistrate and Collector is here' বললে বুঝতে হবে যে, Magistrate ও Collector একই ব্যক্তি। অর্থাৎ যিনি Magistrate তিনিই Collector.
Rule 4. যদি কোন বাক্যে দুই বা ততোধিক Singular Nominative ‘Or’ কিংবা ‘Nor’ দ্বারা যুক্ত হয়, তা হলে সেই বাক্যে তাদের Verb-টি singular হবে।
যেমন- Ram or Har is wrong.
Note- Nominative গুলির ভিন্ন ভিন্ন Person হইলে Verb-এর ঠিক আগে যে Nominative থাকে, তারই Person অনুসারে Verb-এর Person হবে।
যেমন- You or I am active.
Rule 5. যদি Nominative-গুলির ভিন্ন ভিন্ন Number হয়, তাহা হইলে Verb- এর Plural number হবে, এবং Plural Nominative টি Verb - এর ঠিক আগে বসবে।
যেমন— Neither property nor riches were injurious to him.
